“Pierce Brosnan at the peak of his powers”

Ian McElhinney has paid tribute to co-star Pierce Brosnan for his performance in The Last Rifleman.

It tells the story of a Second World War veteran who leaves his care home in Northern Ireland and heads to France to face the ghosts of his past.

It was inspired by the tale of Bernard Jordan, who at the age of 89 sneaked out of his care home in England, got on a ferry across the Channel and made his way to Normandy for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in June 2014.
