The Pirate Queen Launches in China

Singer Studios’ launches its Emmy-nominated VR experience, The Pirate Queen, in China in partnership with Netvios.

Following its successful international release on Meta Quest, The Pirate Queen now sets sail, bringing the extraordinary story of Cheng Shih — history’s most powerful pirate — to Chinese audiences for the first time in virtual reality.

Set in the world of 19th-century China, The Pirate Queen invites players to step into the shoes of Cheng Shih, a woman who defied empire, commanded 70,000 men, and reshaped the South China Sea.

The release marks another milestone for the Pirate Queen franchise, which premiered at Tribeca Festival, winning the prestigious Storyscapes Award, and later took home Raindance’s Discovery Award for Best Debut. The title has been nominated for both Emmy and PGA Innovation Awards and has been featured by Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and IGN.

The Pirate Queen continues to expand globally as a multi-platform franchise, with a graphic novel co-written by Lucy Liu and Eloise Singer set for release in 2027, and an animated series currently in development.
