Mrs Benz to Premiere at Berlinale’s Inaugural Immersive Selection
Singer Studios’ acclaimed VR narrative Mrs Benz will premiere as part of the inaugural Immersive selection at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) — a landmark moment for immersive storytelling at one of the world’s most influential film markets.
Released to coincide with Mercedes-Benz’s anniversary year, this special edition of Mrs Benz celebrates the extraordinary true story of Bertha Benz, whose bold 1888 journey became the first long-distance automobile drive in history — and quietly reshaped the modern world.
Directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Eloise Singer, executive produced by Oscar and BAFTA winner Lesley Paterson, and starring Daisy Ridley alongside Moritz Bleibtreu, Mrs Benz blends cinematic storytelling with narrative-led interactivity. Created for immersive exhibition, the Anniversary Edition reframes the experience as both a cinematic tribute and a living archive — marking 140 years of innovation through memory, motion, and myth.
Following acclaimed premieres at Cannes, Venice, SXSW, and Sheffield Doc/Fest, the Berlinale EFM Immersive premiere places Mrs Benz at the forefront of a growing shift — one where immersive works sit confidently alongside film as part of the global cultural conversation.
Its inclusion in the EFM’s first-ever Immersive selection signals Berlin’s commitment to new cinematic forms — and reinforces Singer Studios’ position at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and authorship.
As the industry gathers in Berlin to look ahead, Mrs Benz stands as a reminder that some of the most radical stories aren’t about invention — but about the courage to move first.
